Hi. I just rebuilt a machine that is an NT4 machine with IE6sp1. i am getting time out errors for most every website while on another machine at the same time, i am not getting errors. we do have full connectivity - all dns, gateways, etc. are correct - just one machine either takes 10x longer to load the web than the other, or the IE6 machine will just flat out not load the pages. any ideas?

Are other networking programs just as slow? Ftp? network browsing? sounds more like a networking problem than a IE problem.

check the manufacture's website for latest driver information. you need the model for the nic you are using as well. If properties under networking doesnt tell you ... look directly on the card it should be there.

We are having the same problem, but only with webs on Apache with CGI scripts. Roll back IE6 SP1, and we can access them (regardless of OS), apply IE6 SP1, and we can't. Everything is up to date, and, as Mack reports, gateways, DNS, everything in the lower layers are correct.

We now know that it's a badly formed URL in the web page's scripts. Here's some further clues about changes in how IE 6 handles things with SP1: http://pivx.com/larholm/unpatched/pivxie6sp1notes.html And more specifics, from the same guy: http://archives.neohapsis.com/archives/ntbugtraq/2002-q3/0129.html
