That's an excellent scanner with wonderful driver software for SCSI. Don't bring it back without trying one of a couple of possible workarounds.

These guys puport to provide a solution for NT users who want to enable USB.

You might want to check with dcovell to see if he has already tried the bsquare driver. Maybe it isn't worh a rat's ass.
If you want to install a SCSI card, I can recommend the Adaptec AHA-1542, though you would have to buy one used. I'm not qualified to recommend a newer SCSI adapter. Make sure you count the pins on the cables and be aware of their gender orientations. (No joke intended).
SCSI cards require a lot of system resoureces (IRQ's, DMA assignments, I/O port assignments) and your system may not have those to give. But they vastly expand your system's ability to make use of peripherals. Warning: SCSI hardware is not cheap.
If you have a lot of extra space on your harddrive, you can install System Commander and then Windows 95 or, maybe 98 (although 98 is fussy about allowing you to install it AFTER another OS). The makers of System Commander (V-Communications) are VERY competent and patient about providing technical support for their licensed users.
If you install Win98 on a separate partition, you'll be able to make use of that USB port.
Don't feel foolish about making a mistake regarding hardware compatibility with your OS. It may be painful for the consumer, but the people on Wall Street love it. It forces you to spend more money on high tech solutions, and it reinforces the stranglehold which those Nazi's have on our economy, to say nothing of our democracy.
