HP InkJet 1100 - Constant Error Msg

I have a problem concerning a recently setup HP 1100 Inkjet printer on a Win NT rig.

"Replace Defective or Incompatible Cyan Printhead"

This message appears within the toolbox application which comes with the driver CD. When removing the cyan cartridge, removing all but the black cartridges and removing all including the colour cartridge the error message remains.

I'm hesitant to say its a faulty printer as it's brand new, the connections are all ok, I've had the inside area of the ink well wiped incase of derbies or such like, however still no luck.

Has anyone suffered from this before? If no answer can be found, we will get her to buy a new cartridge or warranty return the printer, however we would like to avoid that due to time scales.

I'd exchange the printer ASAP. Any troubleshooting you do on your own (hardware wise) will void the warranty.
