Any expert can tell me how to change a PC's Win9x TCP/IP setting such as default gateway and DNS etc., from a remote computer? For example, is there any logon script available to do this?

Hi Henry,
there are some ways to do this.
you can write a little batchfile where you change the entries in the registry. use a simple .reg file to do this. then reboot the system.
you can also use norton ghost with a recovery partition to do this. try to look on the symantec page how to do this.
or tell me what you want to change or how and i will try to find a reason.
bye mick

Dear Mick,
Thanks a lot for your help!
My situation is as following:
We are migrating the leased line to another ISP so I need to change all the PC's TCP/IP setting such as the DNS and default gateway.
Is there any method to change this remotly so I needn't to sit beside each PC and change the setting one by one ?regards
Henry Liu

unless you have leased lines to each pc i can't see why you are doing this. the default gateway for the pcs should be how they get out, ie the proxy or whatever.only the server talking to the isp needs to know anything about it and that concerns the dial out side, the workstations need to know about the servers internal nic only and there should be no reason to change this.

Use the DHCP server options to set the IP addresses and gateway addresses on the DHCP clients (of course, you must configure the clients to use DHCP if you haven't already).
This is part of the whole idea of client/server networking- centralized management. You can change settings at log in for every client, and if you have NT Server, you have DHCP, so stop running around to all of the workstations!
