I need to know how to remove Windows NT from my present operating system and then install Windows 98.
Also, where can I go online to get the software to do the work.

Im currently using win NT and if you want to reformat your hard drive you need to make sure your computer will boot from the cd-rom or have it boot from the boot disk. When you put the disk in it should see your current drive system on the hdd. If you follow the instructions and read carefully it will tell you when you put the disk in if you want to re install over your current file system or delete the current file system.
If you select delete the file system you will have to re-partition your hdd with win 98 like you want to put back on.
More or less just put in your win NT disk in and it will see your files and ask if you wish to re-install or delete, just choose delete.

um nt is an operating system. You cant un-install it.
The best way is to go buy a windows 98 cd, and boot from it. that will them take the place of your operating system now.

for Delpart.exe which will remove most partitions (and thus any OS).
Then use the '98 boot-disk, run the " sys C: routine " (to reset the boot-loader to DOS/'9x version), and then run Fdisk/format to reconfigure the HD; then install '98
Other ways:
Boot from the NT CD (or the 3 floppies) and during setup routine you get the choice to create/delete partitions; choose delete.
Afterwards, reboot with the '98 boot-disk; run " sys c: routine " to reset boot-loader to DOS/'9x variety; then Fdisk to/format to reconfigure HD for '98, and then install '98.
If you have an NTFS Primary partition, and no Extended (NTFS) partition then Fdisk from DOS/'98 will remove it for you. Again, the " sys c: " routine will be required afterwards.
If you have NTFS in the Extended partition then Fdisk will not remove it for you. You are then back to using delpart.exe; or the set-up/\create/delete partitions option as outlined above.
You may this link useful for using Fdisk etc; and also installing '98...
