How to read INDEX.DAT?

Hey, how do I read the index.dat file???????? I've tried renaming the file ext to .txt.. I can read some,,, but most of the characters are not reckognized.

it is a binary format (not readable for humans). if you want to read more try to use a hex editor. but full satisfaction is only guaranteed if you know the format of the file. klaus

Or you can use a program called EnCase. It is used by many police and government agencies to extract timestamps and URLs of your Internet history.
But it seems that nobody really cares about the fact that this is happening. Just let those guys get away with it, right? Oh, by the way, I made a program to get rid of these files. Nobody seems to care about that either though. Man, the hacking community has gotten pretty ignorant lately.
Oh well, back to my all-caring yet oppressed lifestyle.

you can view index.dat by clicking on it and choose the notepad to view it, but i must warn you it will create a error which it will not allow you to go to the internet.
