Hi guys...

When I make a copy of my W2K O/S install CD...it does not boot up automatially and make the installation...

I suspect I need to make a bootable CD...

How do I do this???

Hmmm. Must not have been a good copy. When I copied mine, it worked fine.

When you make the copy, make an exact copy, and save it to disk before you write out the new CD.

Another thing to consider is that not all machines are able to boot off of the CD-ROM. You can set this option in the BIOS of most newer PC's, but some just can't do it.

It depends on your definition of "copy". If you are just copying the files from one CD to another, then no, it won't work. Do a search for a program called Clone CD. it will let you make exact copies of CD's.

If you need more info on how the bootable NT and Windows 2000 CDs work, (and how to build a custom bootable CD from an otherwise non-bootable collection of files....) this link rocks. Too bad I only have the trial edition of ERD Commander.
