hi
i want to change the frequency of the monitor.i followed these steps right click,properties,setting,advanced,monitor,set frequency to 90 hz then ok.after this the only thing i can see is black screen.how can i fix this problem?

NT4 does give the option to TEST DISPLAY Settings, obviously you missed that one...

When starting NT4 go into VGA MODE (aka Safe Mode)

and you may have exceeded the limits of your particular screen/card combo...

hello trvlr & dosser
sure it's exceeded the limits of the screen.but how can i fix that.i tried to enter in vga mode after displaying the window flag it will stop.i chose also last good configuration but nothing especial.so help me please

mmm... been there dun thqat got the empty bottle of hedake pylls...; possibly you are into a repair installation... of the OS.

If so being NT you would re-install the OS - over the current installation...; i.e. to exactly the same folder. You will need to re-apply the sp afterwards.

If you have a current ERD for the installation... then use that approach. If no ERD - all too often the case... can still be done - see below. Worst case scenario - use the repair installaton as suggested above (details also below).

If no ERD... the first/second links detail (as possibly does the third) how to go about it; in both ERD situations you want to check/resore system files. Once back in at vga level, you may be ableto reset vga setings accordingly; or you ay have to re-apply drivers afresh...
