Anybody know how to disable the cancel button from windows 95/98 startup screen? Otherwise user's can just click cancel and continue. Is there a way to force a user name/password? thanks.

If you are logging on to a NT domain with a win95/98 you can require validation from the network for windows access. Go to system policy editor for win98. Under default computer, click on Windows 98 network|logon| and check require validation from network for windows access. I know this works because I have it implemented on my network. Any questions post again

You have to use the policy editor on a windows 98 machine. You can find it on the Windows 98 CD-ROM. Once you create a policy you have to save it in the netlogon share as config.pol. Go to Microsoft's web site and browse the technet articles.
You can buy "S to Infinity" program. It allows you to force username entry at logon and Cancel button is grayed out (therefore not accessible). In fact I am looking for some other way. If you have any comments please e-mail to pel_p@yahoo.com. Thanks.

I found the following tips on: http://winfiles.cnet.com/tips/access.html Submitted by: Tito Sugiharta If your Win95 Computer is used in multiple user environt. You can restrict the computer just for authorized user by disabling the Cancel Button in login session. Follow these steps: 1. run REGEDIT. 2. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-->Network-->Logon. If you can't find it, just create it. 3. Add a DWORD Value named "MustBeValidated" 4. Fill that value by 1 Shutdown your computer and Logon as different user, you will see that the cancel button has been disabled.

this website has a great way to keep out unwanted users. it explains how to fix your registry so that when someone hits cancel, a screen saver with a password comes up. it's kind of fun.
