Reply: (edit)I recommend a program called Norton GHOST. A 30 day trial is available from Symantec's website. http://shop.symantec.com/cgi-bin/trialware/Core/Core.pl?SECTION=Norton+Ghost+Enterprise+Edition&subsite=na&MODE=1&KDATA=KKKK There's a DOS .exe included that will copy the drive for you.

Reply: (edit)Could use Powerquest Drive Image Pro. Create image, and restore to new system...may need to reconfigure all of your PC CArds after though. Could be a messy job. Good Luck. Might need to add a new SID if keeping other system on network. Available from winternals.

Reply: (edit)I wouldn't. Unless the new machine is an exact hardware duplicate of the old - you'll gonna get a lot of headaches. NT relies on a lot of hardware related items - Ghosting from one type of machine to another is painful. SO.. I would install NT on the new machine. Then figure out what your data files are and transfer them over. Perhaps take the old hard drive and stick it in the new machine and copy that way. OR perhaps move them to a different partition (just the data files) and just Ghost over the data files..... my opinions.....digest at will

Reply: (edit)An option now would be to upgrade the old machine to Windows 2000 server; which you can then make a copy of the original hard drive with Ghost and pop the copy into the new machine. Run the setup program from cd for win2k again; and continue normally; but choose the 2nd repair option. This will re-do all the plug-n-play; and should work fine on the new system.
