Moin Ivan, 1. Option use rdisk (command-line) with the undocumented switch /s (/s makes rdisk backup automatically the files SAM and SECURITY, too). The registry can become very large, so not all of it may fit onto a floppy and will be stored in the directory %systemroot%\repair, after having completed this, rdisk prompts you to insert a floppy, to create an ERD-disk. You can restore the system from this floppy or the repair-directory, running a repair installation. After a repair password-problems may occur! 2. Option use regback (command-line) of the NT Resource-kit. First run regback | more, to see the helpscreen. Does NOT copy the files in config which are not open by the registry! Use xcopy or the like for the inactive hives. You will probably be prompted to backup Hive = \REGISTRY\USER\Sxxx manually, the feedback is selfexplaining. To restore the system, use regrest. 3. (and very best) option Use Norton ghost or DriveImage to clone your harddisk with the system and do so, every time you made any changes to the system, that work correctly. So you will just have to change the harddisks in case of a systemcrash and there you go! The bad news: this will cost you a second harddisk. Hope it helps. mfG, Carl.
