Reply: (edit)Don't let the system search for hard drives. Specify your SCSI card before that. NT will find the card, but not identify it correctly. Then, when it sends commands to the search for the disk, it doesn't send them correctly. HTH, Chase

Reply: (edit)This may be what you're looking for: "The following outlines the steps for installing the SCSI board's driver when installing Windows NT for the first time. 1. Begin the Windows NT installation by following the documentation provided with the program. 2. At the end of the diskette phase of the new Windows NT installation, you will be presented the option to specify additional SCSI adapters for use with Windows NT. Respond "yes" by selecting S. 3. A list of drivers will be presented. From this list select "Other". 4. When asked for a diskette, insert the Installation Diskette in drive A. 5. The OS shall automatically select the driver file "ACC Micro Windows NT SCSI HBA Driver" from the diskette, then press . The driver will be loaded and Windows NT will search for the adapter installed in the system. 6. If the adapter is found and the driver is successfully loaded, Windows NT will display a message indicating that the driver was loaded. After this message is displayed, press to continue the Windows NT installation." This came from a 'company' site at: http://www.amedia.com/WebPages/manual/Am20198.htm#3-3 and it give you info relevant to most SCSI installations/situations.

Reply: (edit)Occassionally, you'll need to load your SCSI drivers at the beginning of your install. This is done using an undocumented keystroke(documented for Win2k however.) At the very moment you see the initial blue screen portion of NT Setup, start pressing the F6 key repeatedly until NT Setup starts loading files. If done right, NT Setup will allow you to use "S" to specify additional devices prior to any other installation procedure. Then, use your driver disk for the SCSI controller to load the drivers. FYI, pressing F5 in the above sequence will allow you to specify which kernel to install.

Reply: (edit)Thanks Matt. I couldn't remember the keystroke, but I knew it was there. As for helping this guy out, I'll not waste MY time getting yelled at. Piss on him, this DOES work, I've done it several times myself.

Reply: (edit)You're welcome. I use it on a daily basis myself. And you're quite right, very under-appreciative help seeker. And I had forgotten the keystroke as well which is how I figured out the F5 option. :)

Reply: (edit)Alex, Apology accepted. Try not to bite the hand that feeds you. We're here to help, and we get absolutely nothing for this. The same question's been asked again, here: http://www.computing.net/windowsnt/wwwboard/forum/14337.html He's getting the same answers (OK, from mostly the same people), but you can read those, too.
