I've been having some problems updating my Windows NT 4.0 from service pack 1 to service pack 6.
The instalation runs fine, but once i reboot, the rundll32.exe and other *.exe can't run because user32.dll fails to initialize.
I can sort of correct the problem by copying another user32.dll to c:\winnt\system32, but after a while the problem comes up again.
My pc is a pentium 200 mmx, bios is AWARD dated 1997, video is creative 3d blaster savage 4. Currently running on Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 1.
I would appreciate it a lot if anyone could please point me toward a solution. Should you need any more specs on my system to make a diagnostic, feel free to email me at ypx@crosswinds.net or post a reply on the board.

I would recommend that you update the BIOS first. Do you have access to any earlier SPs? I would recommend that you try to get SP3 or SP4. SP4 would be better, because the biggest improvement is that the NTFS file system is upgraded to version 5.
1) Update the BIOS.
2) Update to SP3 or SP4.
3) Run scan disk and make sure there aren't any bad sectors on your hard drive.
