Comment: We have just installed a Fujitsu 4.33Gb hard drive in a Pentium 100 that used to have a 2.1 Gb drive. I did an hdd autodetect and it was able to find the right parameters for the new drive. The problem is, once in Windows 98 and even during chkdsk in dos, it reads the drive as being a 471 Mb disk. In the opening screen where it lists what is in the computer, it says primary master drive 4.33 Gb. I am not a technician of any king so I have no idea why it is doing this. Does anyone have any idea about what's going on and what I should do to fix this problem. Please use lamens terms as I am not a computer whiz. I have installed hard drives before using hdd detection but have never had this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Helen Séguin

Reply: (edit)It's not something to worry about. It's just a problem with the two not agreeing on what the size of a GIG really is. Nothing's actually going wrong.

Reply: (edit)If you have two partitions C and D ... check if the HD capacity is 2.1 for each of them ... otherwise I think you have to set the partions again using the FDISK ... you can check by cpoying a large anount of data that is more than 471 MB into your HD ... and if it said that the disk is full then I guess you have to use the FDISK ...
