Are you sure your are trying to login under the propper username into the laptop... and the Caps Lock is not on?

Try login in as guest with nopassword or as administrator and type in the password they gave you.

Also search this forum for lost passwords.. there been a lot of posts like that around here..

What password are you referring to? A BIOS password? A login password? If you're talking about a BIOS password, there are two good ways to reset that, one, remove the password jumper from the mobo, reboot, replace the jumper, reboot.

If it's a login password you're talking about, then just reload the computer. You have to idea what junk is on the machine...

Hi David

to by pass a password you have 3 options

1)format and reinstall the operating system
2) if you Know a hacker get them to do it for you.

or #3

take the windows cd. hope that they did give you that, the licence and the manual.
If they have not go clam it it is yours. if they did not they it's against the law for them to keep it.

boot up your pc enter cmos settings
bios settings
make sure that the cd rom drive boots first then the stiffy then the hard drive.

save the changes the pc will reboot.

pop in the cd as the machine boots up
the instalation menu will appear.
When it reads the following.
Format to NTFS
Format to FAT
or leave current files intact.

Select current files intact. This methord leaves all the current files tat are on the hard drive and setup will create a new directory for the new windows instalation.

when that is done. Leave the administrator user in tact, just change the password and name. next create a new user. this will be your main entrance to the pc. the administrator acoount is now your backdoor into the pc. so should you forget the password to your user account you can now login using your backdoor(the administrator account) and that is all.
EASY.

Cheers
selousscouts

There are 3rd party utilities out there that do this for you but they so cost a bit. I found this web site but I haven't tried it myself.
