You can either try

NSLOOKUP or

PING -A xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

NSLOOKUP uses DNS and PING will try WINS and DNS

From your command prompt type ipconfig/all should give you what you need.

NSLookup will work to obtain the name of the machine.

Ping won't do anything but ping it, and ipconfig /all will show the current machine's IP information. :)

Read my post. :)

Ipconfig will show the CURRENT machine's IP information. NOT another machine's info.

Try NBTSTAT /? at the command line. You will see a command for placing the IP address which will give you the computer name and also domain information etc....
Use IPCONFIG to get your IP address.....

If you want to get the name/address of other computer/web site, use the following command:
Start>>>Run>>>command>>>
ping -a xxx.xx.xx.xx (ip address)
