We are running a large NT 4.0 WAN and we need to connect a NetWare 5.0 box via Gateway Services for NetWare. The NetWare box is already connected to the network with users accessing resources via Client Services for NetWare running on TCP/IP. In attempting to install GSNW, we did the following: 1) Downloaded and installed NetWare SP 6a. 2) Created a NW group called NTGATEWAY and gave the group the appropriate permissions. 3) Added user NWUSER1 to that group. 4) Added user NWUSER1 to the NT domain 5) We made sure the password (for NWUSER1) were the same for both NT and NetWare. 6) We installed GSNW and IPX/SPX on an NT BDC. 7) When the NT box rebooted, we attempted to log in as NWUSER1 and we were prompted for the preferred server or default tree, yet nothing appeared in either dropdown box indicating the NetWare box was not being detected by NT. 8) We inserted the NetWare server name anyway, which resulted in an error message stating the path to our server could not be found. We uninstalled and reinstalled many times, to no avail. We see TCP/IP is running on the NW box and although IPX/SPX has been installed, it doesn't look like it is active. We are not NetWare experienced, only NT (sorry us, I know) so any help at all would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure to go to the Novell site and download the utility for Client for Netware the gateway utility. Instead of creating a group you could just assign the permissions on certain users pc in fact you can just install the client on the pc's you want. You need to also make sure that the users are logging into their NT Domain as well as Novell

Make sure that both IPX/SPX is installed on the machines as well
