FTP Errorlevels in NT

Hi y'all I've setup a dos batch program that creates an FTP script, then runs the ftp -s: command. I really need to get a response from the ftp-s command to say if it was successful or not. I've setup a "if errorlevel 1 goto error1" straight after the ftp-s, but it soesn't seem to like it. I know this coz no matter what errorlevel I use (ie 0,1,2,3 etc) it disregards the errorlevel.
