I was just handed a Dell Dimension L600cx. The owner tried to reinstall the windows installation disk several times without disabling the antivirus software as was suggested in the manual. Now the computer boots and freezes when windows begins and will not repond. My idea is to format the hard disk drive and reinstall the windows installation disk that came with the computer. Has anybody done this before and will it work, or does anyone have any better ideas? Any and all help will be appreciated. As it sits now all the data has been wiped due to the owner trying to reinstall windows.

U can use fdisk program to repartition and format program to format the hdd. But the best would be if dell computer has restore cd than go for full installation which will itself format the hdd. Good luck
