I have a user that has been issued a new NT account for an NT4 environment. We have user folders on our U drive. A user complained about access to his drive with the new account. Full access was given. The user came back with a complaint that his folder could be accessed but the sub folders could not. Please advise on a resolution. Much thanks for your attention.

Personally, I believe giving "Full Access" permissions to anyone across the network who is not an administrator (and a trained one), is silly. But that's my opinion.
Subfolders take on the permissions of the folder they're created in. You folder owner should have Change permission, Administrators and the system should have Full Control, and that's about it.
When they create another folder in that one, you can still back it up, and they can get to every folder they want to create.
If you want to get a bit crazy with security, you can restrict the users even more. To do this, modify their security settings:
- Special Directory Access: Read, Write, Delete, Execute
- Special File Access: Read, Write, DeleteThis will prevent them from loading any application on the server, and then running it from there.
HTH,
Chase
