I was trying to set up a feature of Access permissions (for several accounts) on a standalone Windows NT computer. When I go to File > Property there is no Security tab associated with the file: therefore I cannot set up file and directory permissions.
When I tryed to start the "Server" service in the control panel, I got the message "Not enough disk storage capacity".
How can I still set up access permissions and ownership on my computer.

Hi Saxo,
What file system is NT using where the(boot partition-system files/winnt directory)are located. If it is not an NTFS partition you will not be able to assign nor secure any resources locally with file system security and therefore will not have a security tab visible on the properties sheet of the resource. You will only be able to assign share permissions with a non-NTFS volume, once a resource has been shared from sharing tab-permissions button. You will only be able to share a resource if you server service is running. Regarding you "disk space" error, I would check event veiwer for the system error and see if a better description is defined(ie code). Obviously check the disk space of that partition. Confirm ver of Service pack installed. If still unclear, cross reference any error information with the resources of technet online.

Regarding the message:
When I tryed to start the "Server" service in the control panel, I got the message "Not enough disk storage capacity".
I'm guessing you recently added/changed some networkign components, re-apply whatever service pack your machine is running, this usually fixes this error message
