I have a machine running NT and explorer.exe is taking between 98%-100% CPU usage from bootup. Nothing is in startup. Matter of fact, nothing at all comes up. This happens after you log in as user or as administrator. The mouse stays at an hourglass. The machine was recently reimaged with NT. (I don't know why it wasn't reimaged with Win2K since that's our current standard) Anybody have any suggestions about how to tackle this. The user has admin rights so I have no idea what may have happened. Where do I start? Thanks.

Check your processes and see what's taking up all the memory.

Explorer IS Windows, so it could be anything causing it, it is most likely not Explorer itself. You say there is nothing in startup, does this include the registry? What about services and devices any one of these could be causing your problem.
