hi there;
i've a problem with my PC. The OS is win2000/NT and every time i make a copy-paste event, i get a message saying that "explorer.exe has generated errors and the program will be shut down..." and everything goes out. it's possible that a third party program may cause the fault or the OEM PC which is Compaq's some programs may not be cmpatible w/ win200/NT. Best wishes go from here, to whom he/she may help me......

Windows 2000 is sold under the name Windows NT 5.0 in some parts of the world. Not in the States.
This is the NT forum. If you are using NT 5.0 I recommend that you take the issue to the Windows 2000 forum.
If you are using NT 4.0, indicate whether your operating system is NT Server or NT Workstation.
Forgive me if it sounds like I'm being petty, but your problem can most likely be cleared up by applying a service pack. As for which one, it depends on which operating system you are using.
What operating system is it? What Service Pack(s) have you applied thus far?
Take a look at:
http://search.support.microsoft.com/kb/c.asp?fr=0&SD=GN&LN=EN-US
If you have both Windows 2000 and Windows NT, plese indicate that by stating that your system is set up for multibooting.

Okay, first off you are wrong that "most times can be fixed by applying a service pack". Unless you are running standard WinNT 4.0 with only 1st or 2nd SP then you are sadly mistaken because the other SP's released were not related to problems with EXPLORER.exe Dr Watson errors...
And while we're on this subject... how about an NT4.0 w/SP6a installed... Getting Dr Watson EXPLORER.exe error when I click on View-Options (From Explorer) and also when I click Start - Run... to run say, cmd for a "DOS" window. Any suggestions?
I rest my case on the SP's this happened after SP6 was already installed and I installed 6a to try and fix it... nada...
