One of our older computers was having trouble printing to our network printer, so we uninstalled the driver, including the one listed under the Print Server Properties (this was an ongoing issue connected to autocad which we had been trying to solve for a while).

However on restarting windows, once logged in, the desktop and start bar never appeared. We could still access the task manager and run programs through that. We attempted a restart as well as running in safe mode, and while we had a desktop in safemode, it still wouldn't load in normal start up. Looking across forums, it was suggested to stop the explorer process and start a new one. Unfortunately, this caused a strange error to occur - all toolbar text got larger and every time we ran a program or opened a new window, it continued to get bigger. We tried restarting, but that didn't return it back to its original size, nor did it stop the growth. We then tried to restart in Safemode, only to find the text size affected even that. Icons and their labels however or normal sized. Currently, the toolbar text is so large that it takes up the entire screen and we can no longer access anything on the computer past the login screen.

Has anyone encountered this problem before?

Did you try Last Known Good Configuration? Or an NT Repair?
