Two people here are not able to send/receive e-mail. When they attempt to do so, Outlook gives them an error message with “0x800CCC0F” saying the connection to the server has been interrupted. They both share an office.
All client computers here are running XP with Outlook 2003; the Exchange server is Windows 2000 running Exchange 2000. The server is running SAV 9.0.
We began having problems several months ago and it was just one person. The person could send/receive e-mail to an extent; it would “hang” at 50% receiving or so and then error out. He also started receiving the same message 2 or 3 times. I solved the problem by dismounting the databases and doing an offline defragmentation; everything worked fine for about 3-4 weeks and the same person started having trouble again. I did the same thing again, and again everything was fine for another 3-4 weeks. When problems began occurring again, the original person as well as the person he shares an office with were having the exact same problem, same error code.
Again, I did what I had done before and problem fixed.
Now, this past Friday, the second person began having problems. Monday when I came in to work, my e-mail was doing the same thing as theirs; hanging at either 33% or 50% receiving and then giving the “connection has been interrupted” error. I ended up replacing the hard drive in the Exchange server because the server was failing numerous diagnostic tests that I performed. I got the server back up and running on Tuesday and it functioned fine all day. Yesterday the problems started up again. I arrived at work this morning and did a virus scan on the server; found several Trojans and worms. My e-mail was not working again, either. After cleaning the viruses out of the server, my e-mail worked fine, but the other two people still have no functionality. It is not even attempting to send/receive now; it automatically comes up with an error the moment Outlook is opened.
Please help….any suggestions you could give me are greatly appreciated.
