setup another nt4 bdc or w2k server machine install exchange 5.5 and join to an existing site then move the mail boxes from within exchange from one site to another and then move the public folders via replication between sites.

you will then need to move the imc accross this is done by creating a new one on the new server and then deleting the other one, switch the old server off and make sure that everything works still if it doesnt then boot the old one back up and shift the stuff you have forgotten to move.

then switch off again. see if it works if it does you done, just delete the old server from the site list on your new server.

this can all be done live with no need for down time.

rplication of the public folder and the movement of mail boxes will take a couple of days. best set the replication starting over a week end so that the network dont go slow niether will exchange

and you will have to set the home site as you new site.

in case i have missed anything goto question 152959 on the ms site. titled how to remove the first exchange server in a site

hope that helps,

thats how i did it any way iuse the ms article as reference.

rgds,

MArk

Point to the following where D: is the CD drive:-

D:\SERVER\SETUP\I386\CONNECT

the different connectors are in folders under there.

this new machine must be on the network.

are you sure the new machine cant find the site to connect to.

when you install exchange from a fresh install, it asks during the installation which site to connect to there for it is running from the cd anyway. you are running from the cd and not a network share arnt you
