Hi,

I have Exchange 5.5 running on a 15Gb partition on a PDC. Unfortunately there is only about 800Mb free (and getting less by the day). I have gone around archiving users mailboxes but this doesn't create disk space (Due, I believe to Exchange not defragging very effectively). Does anybody out there have any ideas that will help me either defrag (Must be very reliable) Exchange or perhaps move the mailboxes to another server (I don't think this is possible but I am getting desperate) I really don't want to have to replace the server or format it and install new HDD's as it is the PDC and also runs Proxy....Any help/Ideas would be gratefully appreciated

Thanx in advance

Leon

I ran in to the same problem about a year ago. I had to set mailbox size restrictions on every mailbox and then forced our users to delete any unnecessary email and attachments from their mailbox. I set the maximum size to 30mb. Although this process may be a pain in the ass for you to set these limits and for the users to start cleaning out their mailbox, it is better then having your server run out of space and crashing.

I have the same general setup that you described above. One problem I'm having is that the C: drive is starting to run out of space. My Database (mailboxes) are located on a different drive so that can't be causing it. The temp directories are empty and there is nothing in Temporary Internet Files folder. Something in Exchange must be filling my C: drive. I lose about 4 mb per night. Any ideas?
