OS: Windows NT Workstation 4.0
SP: This has happened in SP 4, 5, and 6a.
IE: 3.01, 5.01, 5.5

When I enter Explorer (via right-clicking Start, the Windows Explorer icon, or My Computer), I am able to browse the file system normally. If I right-click on a -shortcut- (this does not happen with files or folders, JUST shortcuts), I get the popup menu like normal. However, if I click away from the menu, to clear it, I get an Exception Error: Access Violation (0xC00000005) in Explorer.exe. Dr. Watson does his thing and Explorer restarts.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling IE, have replaced the explorer.exe file with the original one from the CD. Nothing has yet worked. I'm not eager to re-install NT, since I JUST did so last night... now it's not working.

Any thoughts?
