Comment:

I got this error last night on my PDC (WinNt 4 TSE SP6) and my users couldn't connect to the network this morning.

Event ID 3013
Source : Rrd
Message :
The redirector has timed out a request to my BDC.

My BDC is a WinNt 4 SP6a.
My BDC was frozen (only cursor on screen), so I had to manually reboot the computer ;(

I noticed that the Windows Internenet Name Service (WINS) was stopped, but I don't know if its the cause or the consequence of the problem. I did change the administrator password last weekend, so maybe its related to the fact that I didn't change the administrator's password typed in the services.Anyway, I restarted the service and everything is working fine now.

any thoughts ?

Mathieu

I have been having a similar problem with an NT4, SP6 workstation connected to an NT 4 server, SP6. Rdr errors are being reported as Warinings and Stops in the workstation's In troubleshooting, I replaced the workstation's NIC card, all cabling at PC and Network switch side, with the exception of the cabling in the floor, swapped machines, and rebuilt user's profile. Still reporting Rdr errors. The server side is not reporting any Rdr errors. I did some research, and found some information from a few web sources. I stumbled across the http://www.eventid.net. That site had many NT event ID descriptions. Since we're a Compaq shop, I searched their site and found an article, solution-id: 215.0.74169357.3433460
They're saying that the Computer Account is not registered properly in the Domain. Remove the machine from the Domain and re-add it with a new name. Delete computer account and add it back under its original name. I'm going to try that and see what happens. Hope this helps.
