Hi,

Anytime you see something that you don't know
running on your system, you go nuts. I would.

What the heck is this esserver.exe? It seems
to be installed only on NT. Win2K doesn't
have this program. I googled it and it turned
out to be one of those 40 files stored in
your system32 folder when you install IE5.

I see this running on only one of my NT
machines. Others have it as a file in system32
but not a running process.

What triggers it? What is it doing? The name
contains a word "server", which makes me worried.
Servers tend to open up a socket and wait for
something coming in. There's a great potential
security issue there when you have something like
that in your system.

I can't rest assured unless somebody tells me
exactly what it is and what it does. Please.

Thanks,
Dai
