When I try to execute any *.EXE or *.COM file, a pop up menu displays as:
Windows cannot find Winsvrc.exe
This program is needed for opening files of type "Application"
Location of Winsvrc.exe
D:\I'm unable to edit registry also.
Please help in this regard. Thanks and regards,
SP Singh

I can't say for certain, as I have not seen it myself, but in the Win9x forum, this message seems to be coming up a lot. Most people seem to connect it to the Navidad Virus.
Look in the Win9x forum... there are detailed steps there on removing it.
Again, I never saw this personally, just relaying what I've heard.
Hope it helps!

Here's a link:
http://computing.net/windows95/wwwboard/forum/53693.html, or click the homepage link above

If you are getting an Error Message "Winsvrc.exe" is not found, your Computer has been infected with the "Navidid Trojan"
You can download a removal program for this problem at
http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/
The removal program that you need is called
"fixnavid.com"
Follow the instructions for Saving and Executing this program... Good Luck

IF can't run the "regedit" command under START | RUN ,
Go to Start | Program | MS-DOS Prompt, Command Prompt window appears.
At the C:\Windows prompt, type the following commands and press the key after each command:
ren regedit.exe regedit.com
regedit
seach for the key word " WINSVRC.exe" ,
it should list under " C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\winsvrc.exe "%1" %* " entry, DELETE the whole entry, and restart the system.
So far tested ok.
