Hi there,
i have a problem, is that i have 2 hardisk(each 30 GB) in NT4.0 server running as file server and plan to move it to windows 2000. while I move the slave hard disk and plug into the new system, it give me the error of Access Denied. then, i try to plug in the master hardisk to the new system, it work fine, i can see those file.
So, i tried to plug 2 hard disk at the same time attached to new system. The BIOS can detect as well as the disk management in windows 2000. But, i can't access from the windows explorer, it prompt me whether wanted to format and i Plug out the 2 hardisk and plug it back to old system. it gives the error of Error Loading OS. when i tried to plug in to other PC(OS), just can't see those files inside.
please advise, probably someone have encountered the same problem before? please help.thanks,
Fui Koon

You can not just move a NT OS drive to another system. NT doesn't work like that excluding the hardware configuration issues you have encountered.
If you want to migrate to new OS and hardware then you have a couple of decisions to make.
You can install NT on the new hardware as a BDC so you preserve the NT user info [sam]. Then upgrade this server to W2K.
Or you can install the new server as a w2k server. Recreate everything you had in the NT domain and retire the NT server.
It would be best if you learned the differences between W2K and NT plus reviewed the recommended upgrade plans.
Best of luck!
