Comment:

The following message is displayed when logging into my NT4.0 workstation:

RpcSs.exe: entry point not found
The procedure entry Point ??_U@YAPAXI@Z could not located in the dynamic link library MSVCRT.dl

Same for tapisrv.exe and MSTask.exe

Because of these error some applications like Visio do not run.

If your System32\MSVCIRT.DLL is dated around 11/07/2000, find an earlier version on your system, there are about 16 on mine, and copy it over the one that you have.
A quick check is to QuickView the DLL and see if the missing entry point is in the import table. If it is, that version of MSVCIRT.dll is no good.
Cheers,
Bryan.

I had a VERY similar problem, I tried several versions of MSVCRT.DLL but got the same error, however, by deleting the DLL AND the MSVCRT.PDB then reinstalling (in my case Visual Studio SP4) fixed it

Thank you so much for your tip. I replaced the msvicrt.dll file with the one from my archive, and it does work.
Best regard

I looked at the msvcirt.dll and decided
it might be the problem (as suggested
in this thread). Replaced it with an
earlier version I dug up (scarey)
The msvcrt.dll error is gone and
my programs are "magically" working again.
THANK YOU!
