Comment:

I have a server running Windows NT4 server, with a single Pentium III 800MHz processor. I would like to upgrade this server to a DUAL Pentium III 800MHz. After I install the second processor, what should I reinstall the operating system or not? If I have to reinstall it , do you know any installation manuals I can use or download?

Thank you

You shouldn't have to reinstall, the os should just pick up for you.

Visit/Post/Reply/Explore Site/Forums (Homepage above).

Thanks,

Jesse

You either need to reinstall the operating system so it uses the multi-processor kernel, or you could try using the Windows NT Server 4.0 Resource Kit utility "Uni to Multiprocessor". I have the utility but have never tried it. The OS will not just pick it up for you.

YOU DON'T NEED TO REINSTALL!

Do a search for "Multi processor kernel"
on the internet, you'll soon find the file
on the Microsoft site.

I think those boys had a few too many drinks.

A word on the uni-multi util on the reskit. The one time I tried using this the next reboot resulted in a BSOD. I'd be prepared for a possible reinstall.
