Does anybody know how to share a DSL line that uses PPPoE over a local network? I know how to do it with a static IP but PacBell is implementing the PPPoE with dynamic IP assignment. PLEASE HELP!!!

STAY connected, configure your proxy or router to that IP address and never disconnect!!! If you do, you have to re-enter your IP address
OR.. pay an extra $10 for ONE static IP address....
PPPoE SUCKS...
Use TCP/IP, it's worth the extra $10 a month!!!

Dean,
You can use proxy, but doesn't it uses the ip on your nic as suppose to the ip on the PPPoE. Under the TCP/IP protocol properties, it shows two different card. One is the NIC, which I can set any IP I want and the other is PPPoE which according to PacBell has to be set to DHCP. Correct me if I'm wrong (I'm not too familiar with this new PPPoE crap), isn't PPPoE using a slightly different protocol?

This is how i did it. I have two network cards in my server pc. One is for my home network(ip: 192.168.1.1), the other one is configured with (10.0.0.140 <-which is private address too).My PPoE is set to DHCP,just like you said. I run a Proxy server on my server pc. In order to get web browser, AOL instant messanger..etc I configured the options of these programs to use proxy and in the address of proxy server i put the ip of my server pc, which is 192.168.1.1 ...and that's it ...email me if you have anymore questions, i'll be glad to help.
