Comment:

I have 2 winnt 4.o boxes on a small network. One serves as the PDC and the other is just a SQL 2000 server. They have been running problemfree for over a year. recently I started getting the following error message when I try to login at either server. "drwtsn32.exe - dll initialization failed:, Initialization of the dynamic link library c:\winnt\system32\imagehlp.exe failed. The process is terminating abnormally". I still have access to the serves from the work stations, but I can not login at the servers themselves nor can I run any application that uses SQL. After i clear the error the screen stays on the winnt background with none of the normal icons present. I am assuming that some of the services are not being loaded, ie. SQL. I have no idea how to even troubleshoot this since I cant even login to check the logs. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

From the workstation go into the event viewer and on the toolbar select "log" and drop down to select computer, from their you should be able to view the servers log to try to determine what is failing. BTW have you made an R-disk recently for your servers?

Thanks for your response. I can't run the event viewer because I get the following error message: "The NETU10.DLL file is linked to missing export NTDLL.DLL:RtlFreeOemstring". I clock OK then I get: "W:\WINNT\System32\EVENTVWR.exe a device attached to the system is not functioning.

Yed I do have a R-disk. It is not the most recent but it will have to do.

What now, I hope this does not mean a re-install. Thanks again.
