This type of error is common when you're using Microsoft Office in any system based on NT technology operating under NTFS.
The solution is very simple: Install Microsoft Office Service Pack (Latest Version). This will correct the problem inmediately.

Hi Steve,

Were you able to successfully resolve your Dr. Watson Access Violation error using MS Word 97?

I am having the same error and wonder which version of Office Service Pack may have fixed things?

I am having the same sort of problem on an NT4.0 WS and Office Pro 2000 with the latest service packs as of 12-27-00. It is frustrating me. I happens in word, excel, outlook, then it will lock up my machine. Any clues out there?

Hello !
I had the same problem with my Outlook 2000.
SPx does not helped me - but when I used the "find and repair" found under "Help" in outlook (I'm not sure that this is correct names - because I use Norwegian version)it solved the problem for me.
Put the CD with Office 2000 in your drive - click on "Find and repair" - and after 2-3 minutes with auto "fixing" -hopefully you have no problem with access violation.
Will you please let us know if that fix your problem - as it did with mine ?
