OS: NT 4.0
CPU/Ram: P4 1.6GHZ 256 meg
Model/Manufacturer: IBM T30 2366
Comment:

When I installed Doom 95 on NT 4.0, when I play it the screen it about 3" tall 2.5" wide on my 13" monitor. The color is B&W with a few random dots of color in it. I can still read even the small text, but it is not exactly the gameplay that it should be.

75 megahertz is fast. Right?

DOOM95 is a DOS based game, NT4 is not a DOS based O/S:

Try and keep up with the times... DooM (the original) was a DOS based game - - DooM 95 was the (official) Windows port - there have been scads of others, aka Source Ports, since the code was released years ago

You can try tinkering with the settings from the launcher, or consider using a different port

Let me tell you something here. Home users who once has Windows 98 or ME on their systems "upgraded", actually "DOWNGRADED" to Windows XP "Home Edition". When they tried to run DOS programs, they thought that Windows XP didn't run DOS programs without the knowlege of knowing what kernel Windows XP is on. I believe that Microsoft made a bad choice of making a consumer operating system into an NT Based operating system. Windows XP Home Edition is a waste, unprofessional and has a lot of flaws. You can't even log into an NT Domain, very basic security and doesn't run DOS programs unlike Windows 98 can. Microsoft is stupid of giving Home Users such a low quality NT Based operating system. Windows XP Home Edition is a waste and is very slow compared to Windows 98 and Windows 2000. NT is a business OS and doesnt really run DOS stuff well (like Doom). Now visualize this. XP Home is a NONE business OS and doesnt really run DOS stuff well (like Doom). Thats why XP Home is the most stupidest operating system EVER to be released by M$. If you have that operating system, I suggest you go back to Windows 98 or 2000, or upgrade to Windows XP Professional.

U should probably just play Doom 95 on Windows 95 or 98. Running DOS programs on "ANY" NT based operating system is complicated and is such a hassle. Try dual booting Windows 98 and Windows NT, I know its like defeating the purpose on what your trying to do but thats the only way you could get a stable game. You can also try to find some emulator out there to make your game run under NT, like DOSBox or Virtual PC which can run under Windows NT4. I wish Microsoft improved DOS Compatibility when they released Windows XP.

Oh, I see - - this has become an opinion piece for the self involved 'experts' among us (how grand - and sadly, not the first worthless outpouring)

I've gotten win quake to barely run on NT 4.0, but you cannot do full screen mode either.

I am trying to load the original dos base doom on an older computer I got for games (Windows 98). However, while I have the CD Disk I no longer have the instructions. Does anyone know what you put in at the dos prompt to load the game? Thanks
