Comment: I have a small network built on Windows NT. In the past I have access the internet through a 56k modem. However, I recently purchased a DSL and router. The router is configured to use DHCP. I went into the server and a workstation to test the hardware. The internet works fine on the server, but when I test the other box I get the following error message "The domain password you supplied is not correct, or access to your logon server has been denied." What is causing this error message? Is is an IP configuration problem? I can successfully ping the router and the server from the workstation. Is is a configuration problem with DNS or WINS? Any information or advice will be greatly!! appreciated.

Reply: (edit)Thanks for your reply. I currently have the DSL router set up to be my DHCP. The NT box has been assigned a static ip 10.1.1.10 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0. The routers address is 10.1.1.1 with subnet of 255.255.255.0. The workstations are DHCP clients of the router. From the workstation I can ipconfig and see the DHCP ip and subnetmask and default gateway, which is the router. However, I have not made any real changes to the server. This may be my problem. The server was originally DHCP, WINS and DNS. The interesting part is that the server has been taken off the old hub and put on the DSL router. It can log into itself fine and it also can reach the internet through the DSL router without any difficulty. More information would be appreciated.

Reply: (edit)Are you saying you didn't disable DHCP on your server yet? Also, what OS are your workstations running? What happens if you try different IP's or swaping IP's? Some of this is shots in the dark but that's how you learn, right? Keep an eye out for anything while you try these things. Also don't forget to check the system error logs -they tell a lot about network status! The answer may even be in there now...
