I am missing a file and not sure how it happened, hoping someone could help. I get this error on start up .DLL file,XMLPARSE.DLL
not found. What have I done.

Expand on "Startup"!!!
Does the DLL exist?
Was AOL Instant messenger ever installed on this PC?
Blue Screen when NT is loading, after the GUI is loaded, etc...

I have the same problem and yes AOL Messenger was on my machine. I deleted it through Add/Remove programs. When I searched the computer for XML.PARSE.DLL I found it under program files/... I have Windows 98 and start up appears fine until that message pops up. I enter thru the message and everything seems to work fine. Just want to rid myself of the message. Any help would be wonderful.
Thanks

HELP HELP HELP....EVERYONE IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM HERE..BUT HAS ANYONE GOT AN ANSWER COS IT'S DRIVING ME MAD TOO.PLEASE HELP.

I started getting the same error message when booting(XMLPARSE.DLL not found)after deleting AOL instant messenger, which mysteriously popped up on my desktop after downloading some updates. I don't use AOL so I don't want to reinstall AOL AIM just to get rid of the error message. Help!

All you have to do to make the error go away is click on (start) then (run) then type (msconfig) then (ok). This will pop the msconfig menu screen. Select the (startup) tab and take the check mark out of the AIM name location. Click on (apply) and (ok). This will want you to restart your computer. When it restarts you will get a box that asks you about changes made in the start files. Select the option not to show the next time you reboot. This should work and fix the problem for windows 98 and windows ME users.

Even better and more thorough. Make sure AOL Instant Messenger is still uninstalled. Click on Start>Run, type in Regedit, click OK, Click on the + sign beside HKEY_Local_Machine, then Software, then Microsoft, then Windows, then Current Version, click on RUN. On the left you will see a list of services, right click on AIM or AOL Instant Messenger and DELETE. Once removed from the Registry it should no longer make the call to the missing DLL file and will only reappear if AIM is installed and improperly uninstalled in the future. If you already did what the last guy said from MSCONFIG you would find the entry under RUN- instead, however, you should still remove it.

Hope this helps

I just wanted to say thanks to Mike Young. I came here because I was having the same problem and your advice really helped.
Thanks again! :)

I have thesame problem with the DLL file missing and i want someone to tell me how i can delete the error message cause it keep poping up my screen during start up?

I was able to uncheck the aim box for startup using msconfig so I don't get the message anymore, although I also attempted to find instant messanger in the registry under run but it was not there.

Yes, I to deleted the AOL Instant Messenger from my computer. I quess I need xmlparse.dll also. I suppose I can go out and re-install the AOL.

1. Click Start, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
2. Double Click 'Add/remove programs' icon.
3. From the list select AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) to uninstall and click 'Add/Remove'.
4. Click 'Apply' and 'OK'.
5. Restart the system. After the system restarts, download AOL Instant Messenger again. Installing AIM would resolve the issue.

For Windows 95 is there any other way other than
editing the registry or re-installing aol aim
which I don't want? (Using msconfig is only for
Win 98).I also am missing the xpcs.dll and xprt.dll files.
Since the problem is aol's for not providing
an Unistall that works properly, shouldn't they
have come up with a solution?

I cannot get the AIM to install because of the error message being DLL file not found has anyone any ideas how to find this file and reinstall it so I can use the AIM
Thanks
