Occasionally our NT server disk space will surge, I'll check disk space and it will say 200 meg. After a couple of minutes, storage space will go back to normal. Is there a way I can track what program or files are causing the "ALERT"

It's probably your pagefile. You can use performance monitor to track the size of your pagefile.
