Comment: I have a drive running windows NT workstation when it was updated on the reboot it has come up with an I/O Error. is there anyway I can get windows to recognize the drive and then fdisk and format the drive?

Reply: Have you checked POST --Does it recognize the hard drive? When exactly do you get the I/O Error? Why would you want windows to recognize the drive if you are going to fdisk and format the drive anyway!!

Reply: i am have the same error. I formatted the drive, started it up with the boot disk and it gave me that error. It gives me the compaq start up screen and then the err message. Does ne ony know what it might be? I think I might just have the wrong boot disk? would that have something to do with it? If so where could I get the one that I need? Thank you in advance for your help Jimmy
