Using explorer check the file permissions to see if you are unable to delete it. Also maybe a good idea to see who owns the file. If you login as the administrator you can take ownership or change permisions to allow you to delete it.

On a server it is always good to have a copy of workstation about, as you can then boot thru this and delete whatever you need to...Including security files if the need arises

what error message did u get when u tried to delete the file.

One possibility is that file was used by NT system. go to control panel, check services,
stop related services (such as anti-V), then try to delete the file again

The above advice is good. Also hit {ctrl][alt][delete] and hit task manager. Click processes and see if you can determine which process the virus software is (be carefull). End that process and then try deleting that file.

None of the replies really help me.
I have taken ownership if it etc. I have used CACLS as instructed but still cant get rid. I am told it is something to do with there being a COM2 port. At the moment I have had to disable the virus shedule which is not good news. If I let it run it stops my back up schedule. I am still totally stuck.
