Running NT Server4.0 w/SP 6. We have a PDC acting also as a file server. The are several private folders located on this server that users access remotely. Users that have private folders, have "change" access on the share. The question is, where do the files go after they are deleted by the user? I've looked on the file server's "recycling bin" and I've looked at the user's local recycling bin that is on their personal workstations. Still no luck. I even tried this myself and still couldn't locate the deleted files. Has anyone had experienced this? Where do deleted files after they are deleted on a remote share? Do they disappear into thin air? This is weird.

Yes they disappear into thin air. The recycle bin works only from the local machine. In other words on a workstation deleting soenthing from the C drive will go into the "bin". If you delete seomething on a network drive, it is gone. If you go to that server and physically delete something from the local drive it goes to the bin. There is a program call "DISKEEPER" (I think) that will give you the cababilty when a user deletes something from a network drive it goes to the "bin". Never tried it but heard it works... Hope this helps...
