Comment:

Hi,

I am not able to record sound using Creative Sound Blaster Card AWE64 (16 bit audio) in Windows NT. The driver is installed properly in Windows NT and it shows it functioning properly. The speaker output is working fine but cannot record any sound through microphone.

Any help in solving the above problem is highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

On a whim, is MIC NOT muted.

Double click the sound icon on your systray.

Go to advanced options, show everything (i think you have to put checkmarks next to what you want to show up)

make sure mute all or the microphone is not muted. I think i came across this before...

Probably the mixer was muted.
Probably the driver was not installed properly through "pnpisa.inf" procedure.
It may work but not as what it should.
Be aware on this. :)

If the card you have has this feature you may have to turn on the mic boost. This gives your mic a 20 db boost. Look on the advanced properties for a check box. If it is not there. You will need to get a different microphone. I suggest calling creative to find out which ones are compatible. I have an andrea with a special power adapter that came with it. On an ess card it works fine without the adapter. On the awe64 it does not. I put the adapter in and it works fine now.
