My NT 4.0 system os got corrupt (scsi drive), but there is alot of data that has to be taken off the drive. So I installed the drive on 2 other NT systems. With the second drive installed, the system will not boot into nt and hangs on kernel (blue screen) count. Seems like it's trying to verify the faulty drive, and never ends. I can feel activity on the faulty drive, and the led flashes. It never seems to finish and boot nt from the good os drive. I even tried it on a system that has an ide as the main os drive, hoping that it would not look at the scsi drive. In the scsi bios, I also disabled scsi to be bootable. And made sure to set boot order to cdrom,a,c in the award bios.

is there a win98 box you can put the scsi drive in as slave or if the file system was ntfs you can reinstall winnt to example winnt2 that way you can get all your files of that drive

I hope that any of the previous suggestions works for you in some fashion but this should be taken as a lesson in data backup. If you can get to the drive after booting from a Win98 boot disk as mentioned above you might be able to transfer many of the directories to new media but it probably will be a large effort. Good luck!
