Do you have access to the Mac that originally wrote the documents? If so, it's rather trivial to just save the Word documents as any number of DOS/Windows-format files. This works in either Word 6.0 or Word 98. Be sure you save the files directly to a PC disk on the Macintosh. I've found that this eliminates quite a number of hassles in the translation. If you are getting the files via email or some other electronic transfer, I think the best "translations" come from saving the files on the Mac in Word 5.1 for the Mac format before sending/transferring. I've never had a problem opening these.

Good luck...

joe.

Friend is using a MAC, maybe using Clarisworks, (or is there a version of WORD for MAC?). Has a file she wants to transfer (attach) to me via AOL.
I am on a PC and want to open the file in either Microsoft Word 6.0 or Lotus Word Pro 97.
Question - What format should she save the file in so that I will be able to open it?

Thanks so much!
Judy

I was given a zip disk that was formatted on a MAC. I need the files that are on it so I can import them into the Corel Photopaint or Adobe Photoshop I'm running on my Windows 98 system.
My zip disk won't read it. It say's it's not properly formatted. Any ideas on how I can get these files off?
Thanks,
Jon Lutz
