I have a file server (running on winnt client) that consistently limits the amount of connections to the machine (not the actual shared hardrive/folders) is there a way to increase the amount of users to connect to this machine?

If I understand you correctly, you are running NT4 Workstation and using it as a 'server' - if so there is nothing you can do about the limitations. NT4 Workstation limits it to 10 concurrent conections if memory serves me right. It is after all a 'workstation' OS and not a true 'server' os.
