I am trying to setup two remote access clients running xp pro to access our company
server which is running NT 4.0(sp 6.0)
the server and one client are dsl users, and
the other client is connected via satellite.(Don't Know if it makes a difference)
My first question is in what order do I install my DHCP server and Routing and Remote Access Services.
I've studied all of Microsoft's white pages(installing, Configuring, and using PPTP with Microsoft Client and Server) and walked through it all the way to the lsat two steps in the last section(Configuring Lan Routing on the PPTP Server)

The second step: DontAddDefaultGateway with a value of REG_DWORD 0x1 in the following Key: HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\Sysyem|CurrentControlSet\Services\\Tcpip\DontAddDefaultGateway.
Can't figure out what and where is this .

Also in the next and last stepAdding Static Routes for the Private Network by using the route command with the persistent (-p) option. c:\>route add -p 192.168.31.1

Is this my server's ip address.

Is there any software out there that can fascilitate these procedures.

Any help appreciated: Losing too much hair.

You need to take a step back and think about this plan.

Are you protecting your server with a hardware firewall? Software firewall at the least? Let's ignore the basic protection and look at your DHCP. These folks are connecting to the internet now right? They already have ip addresses. What you want to do is setup VPN's between them and you.

So read some more on how to setup a vpn server on the server or firewall hardware, how to configure vpns from the clients and how to allow them access to the server.

Best of luck!
