how do i get chkdsk to run at every boot? I have tried putting the command
chkdsk /f in the autoexec.bat to no avail and put that command in a bat file to run in the autoexec.bat to no avail

Hi Wayne,
since your posting is in the NT forum I suppose, you're running WinNT. You can set a registry-entry to run CHKDSK /F every time you boot.Run regedit.exe.
Find under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager the entry "BootExecute" and change the entry
BootExecute REG_MULTI_SZ Autocheck Autochk*
to
BootExecute REG_MULTI_SZ Autocheck Autochk /P *
Now CHKDSK /F should run everytime you boot.
If you are not really familiar with regedit, always remember: every registry-change might kill your system. So save your registry before editing by running rdisk. Below you will find a site, that provides a tool for relatively safe registry-changes (Registry System Wizard), it makes registry-backups and other useful things, maybe you would like to try it.
